چکیده
The gene pkwA coding for a typical WD-repeat protein was found in the chromosome of the bacterium Thermomonospora curvata CCM 3352. Until now WD-repeat proteins were through to be confined to eukaryotes.

Bioinformatic and empirical analysis of a gene encoding serine/threonine protein kinase regulated in response to chemical and biological fertilizers in two maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars
Molecular structure of a gene, ZmSTPK1, encoding a serine/threonine protein kinase in maize was analyzed by bioinformatic tool and its expression pattern was studied under chemical biological fertilizers. Bioinformatic analysis cleared that ZmSTPK1 is located on chromosome 10, from position 141015332 to 141017582. The full genomic sequence of the gene is 2251 bp in length and includes 2 exons. ...
متن کاملRegulation of the p21-activated kinase (PAK) by a human Gbeta -like WD-repeat protein, hPIP1.
The family of p21-activated protein kinases (PAKs) is composed of serine-threonine kinases whose activity is regulated by the small guanosine triphosphatases (GTPases) Rac and Cdc42. In mammalian cells, PAKs have been implicated in the regulation of mitogen-activated protein cascades, cellular morphological and cytoskeletal changes, neurite outgrowth, and cell apoptosis. Although the ability of...
متن کاملSpecific phosphorylation of threonine by the Dictyostelium myosin II heavy chain kinase family.
Dictyostelium myosin II heavy chain kinase A (MHCK A), MHCK B, and MHCK C contain a novel type of protein kinase catalytic domain that displays no sequence identity to the catalytic domain present in conventional serine, threonine, and/or tyrosine protein kinases. Several proteins, including myelin basic protein, myosin regulatory light chain, caldesmon, and casein were phosphorylated by the ba...
متن کاملThe Role of Mammalian Target of Rapamycin (mTOR) in Insulin Signaling
The mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) is a serine/threonine kinase that controls a wide spectrum of cellular processes, including cell growth, differentiation, and metabolism. mTOR forms two distinct multiprotein complexes known as mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1) and mTOR complex 2 (mTORC2), which are characterized by the presence of raptor and rictor, respectively. mTOR controls insulin signaling b...
متن کاملMolecular structure of a protein-tyrosine/threonine kinase activating p42 mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase: MAP kinase kinase.
MAP kinases p42mapk and p44mapk participate in a protein kinase cascade(s) important for signaling in many cell types and contexts. Both MAP kinases are activated in vitro by MAP kinase kinase, a protein-tyrosine and threonine kinase. A MAP kinase kinase cDNA was isolated from a rat kidney library by using peptide sequence data we obtained from MAP kinase kinase isolated from rabbit skeletal mu...
